I don’t know what it is about breastfeeding that makes you slouch, but it does. You’re struggling to get in the right position and trying to figure things out I suppose. And I’m always saying how much my back hurts. This happened when I was pumping for Leilani and it has happened while nursing Landon. I just kept saying, ‘There has to be something out there that helps with this!’ And there IS!
I found a pillow called Back Buddy. It is a support pillow that helps with posture and getting you in the right position while nursing (and yes pumping too!). I didn’t get a chance to try it out while I was pregnant, but it is supposed to help alleviate back pain during pregnancy too. And who didn’t have back pain while pregnant?? If you answered, ‘me’ to that question, we can’t be friends.

The pillow is super lightweight and has the perfect contour so you instantly feel the support. The foam is super soft but has just enough structure in it and it’s SO comfortable! The design is also gorgeous and blends in to everything in our living room so I don’t feel like I have a ‘baby pillow’ in our most visited room of the house. I leave it out all the time. A few weeks ago, my parents visited to help us out a bit while daycare was closed. The day they showed up, my husband and I had a little pasta making class to go to and when we got home, my dad was using the Back Buddy as he was sitting there watching TV. He raved about it and how comfortable it was for him (and he’s always had back issues). I think that says a lot right there! This pillow isn’t just for pregnant women, or breastfeeding women, it’s for everyone! It definitely helps me have better posture and you will find me just hanging out in the living room using it almost every day.
