Did you know that soy sauce is made from water, soybeans, wheat and salt? WHEAT. I, in my many, many years of consuming soy sauce had NO idea. I received these sauces that were Gluten Free, and I understand what gluten is, but I never really put this together with soy sauce. Until…I saw my friend’s post about going to China for several weeks to adopt her son and how nervous she was about the food because of her gluten intolerance. How scary!!!
Recently, I had to be dairy free for about 4 months and that was tough, especially because I absolutely LOVE cheese. You don’t realize how much dairy is in practically everything you eat. I started looking really closely at labels. It’s also amazing how many things have artificial preservatives, flavors, colors, etc. So I was pleased to find out that these San-J Organic Gluten Free Sauces have none of those. It makes me feel good about what I’m making for my family!
I decided to try a recipe from the San-J website for Thai Peanut Pasta Salad. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of kick the sauce had. My 2 year old was not. While it didn’t hit her at first, she gobbled away until the stinging started and turned to me with terror written all over her face and shed a few tears. I felt a little bad, but we let her try things that have a little spice, and if she likes them, great. If not, she doesn’t have to eat it. My husband loved the pasta salad – even the tomatoes, which NEVER happens! Overall, we enjoyed the freshness of the salad along with the kick and I will definitely be making it again. The Thai Peanut Sauce has a very distinct nutty flavor that is very rich and bright! I’m super excited to try out some of the other San-J products, especially their salad dressings!
