I’ve been told that my chili is more like a soup – I do make it a bit runnier so that you can add noodles. Yes, I put noodles in my chili, it’s how my mom made it and we happen to love it!
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
- 3 ribs celery
- 1 large yellow onion
- 4 cloves chopped garlic
- 1 whole jalepeno chopped fine - leave out the seeds if you don't want the heat
- 1 can stewed tomatoes
- 1 can Petite Diced Tomatoes
- 1 can chili beans
- 1 can kidney beans
- 1 can tomato juice 46 oz.
- 1 can beef broth *optional
- 1 packet chili seasoning mix
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 4 dashes celery salt
- 5 dashes worcestershire sauce
- 5 dashes tabasco sauce
- 2 cups uncooked ready cut spaghetti noodles cook per directions on the box
Servings:
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef/turkey with onion, celery and garlic in a large pot. While you are cooking, season with salt, pepper, Lawry's or whatever you normally season your ground meat with. If there is any excess fat, drain.
- While the meat is browning, boil noodles according to package and drain. Set aside.
- Mix in tomatoes, beans, jalepeno and half of the tomato juice. Stir in the packet of seasoning and can of beef broth. You can use water if you do not have or wish to use the beef broth.
- Bring to a boil and simmer. Add chili powder, sugar, celery salt, worcestershire sauce, tabasco and continue to simmer for another 15-20 minutes. Add noodles if you wish or serve them on the side if you don't want them to get too mushy.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings. Our favorites are shredded cheddar, sour cream and thinly sliced jalepenos! Stir in the remaining tomato juice if it gets too thick (after adding the noodles) or to your desired thickness. Enjoy!
