So I’m going to try to do a post every Monday called ‘Monday Meals’. Sometimes this will be about food in general, and sometimes it will be focused on baby/kid food. It is also how I’m going to hold myself accountable because I am great at meal planning…every other week. The off weeks, my husband and I end up eating out way too often and it’s super frustrating. The hardest part is making sure we get to the grocery store over the weekend.
We have decided that as of April 6th, we are going to do a few things to change our lifestyle and that we are going to try it for a month and see how things go.
- No soda – at lunch, at dinner, whenever. The only exception is when you have a stomachache, then you are allowed a Sprite or Squirt.
- No alcohol – this isn’t a big deal for me since I haven’t been drinking really. I’ll have the occasional glass of wine at book club but that’s about it. The hard part is that outdoor volleyball is starting in April and I’m going to want to drink at the bar.
- Planned meals – I’m going to try my hardest to plan our meals and lunches every week. I think we should be allowed to go out to dinner once in a while, but I’d like to keep it at a minimum.
- Lean Cuisine Lunches – this one is just for my husband. I don’t know if I could do this every single day, but he’s going to try. He will only eat Lean Cuisines at work for lunch.
With that being said, here is my meal plan for this week.
Sunday – Garlic Spaghetti with salad
Monday – Tater Tot Pie
Tuesday – leftovers
Wednesday – Turkey Kielbasa (with Polish Relish), Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Red Cabbage
Thursday – leftovers
Friday – Lasagna with Texas Toast
Saturday – leftovers
Sunday – Easter Brunch with family (at Autumn Ridge Golf Course – where we got married!)
If I don’t plan leftovers nights, we end up wasting food. And we always have quick meals on hand in case we don’t have enough leftovers. I’ll start posting actual recipes on my site soon instead of linking you to my other website since I’ll be removing my blog there at some point.
Leilani eats way healthier than we do because I make sure she has food planned for the week no matter what. This week she has sweet potato and quinoa with nutmeg and sweet peas for dinners and apples with blueberries and cinnamon to go with her oatmeal for lunch. She loves her oatmeal and eats it twice a day. I’m sure she’ll get some eggs and pancakes over the weekend because she loves them!
Feel free to share some recipes or if you’d like, participate in Monday Meals and hold yourself accountable too! Happy meal planning!
